“Africa’s aviation time has come!”
That was the message from the African Development Bank (AfDB) after the organization signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IATA.
Under the MoU, IATA and the AfDB will work together to help develop a safe, secure, and efficient aviation industry in Africa.
The aviation sector is especially important as it opens up doors to investors
The organizations have committed to creating and implementing programs and projects that will improve the sector in Africa, and stimulate economic and social development.
Priority areas include improving connectivity, safety, and aviation infrastructure.
“The aviation sector is especially important as it opens up doors to investors," added African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina.
“We must make regional aviation markets competitive and drive down costs, raise efficiencies and improve connectivity and convenience.”
IATA Director General and CEO Alexandre de Juniac added: "The MoU with ADB will help facilitate the growth and development of Africa's aviation industry. In so doing, it will expand prosperity and change peoples' lives for the better in the continent's 54 nations."
