IATA has reported record passenger load factor figures, as demand remains strong.

Load factor—the measure of how much of airlines’ capacity is used—reached 84.7% in July, a new high for the month.

As is evidenced by the record high load factor in July, the appetite for air travel remains very strong

At the same time, passenger traffic—which grew by 6.8% compared to July last year—is down from the 7.7% year-on-year growth recorded in June.

All regions posted solid growth in July, with Latin American airlines leading the way, recording a 10.5% demand increase.

“As is evidenced by the record high load factor in July, the appetite for air travel remains very strong,” said IATA Director General and CEO Alexandre de Juniac. “However, the stimulus effect of lower fares is softening in the face of rising cost inputs."
